    SAINTS OF THE DAY


29th - Feast of SS. Peter and Paul, prime Apostles. They suffered at Rome under the Emperor Nero probably A.D. 67. 


30th - Synaxis of the holy and most praiseworthy Twelve Apostles. 


1st - SS. Cosmas and Damian, wonderworkers, unmercenary physicians, Martyrs. They were twins. Arabs by birth and lived in Cilicia. They are highly esteemed in the Eastern church.


2nd - Deposition of the Venerable Robe of the Theotokos, in the church of Blachernae at Constantinople in the reign of the Emperor Leo and his consort Irene. Our holy father, Juvenal, who, after St. Cyril was the third Patriarch of Jerusalem, died A.D. 454 during the reign of Marcian and Pulcheria, Emperors. 


3rd - St. Hyacinthus, Martyr, a chamberlain of the Emperor Trajan at Caesarea in Cappadocia. Accused of being a Christian, he was cruelly scourged and cast into prison and given no food except meat consecrated to idols. He lingered many days and died of hunger about A.D. 108. Our holy, father, Anatolius, Patriarch of Constantinople, who flourished A.D. 453 during the reign of the Emperor Marcian.


4th - Our holy father, Andrew, the Jerusalemite, Archbishop of Crete. He died A.D. 686, under the reign of Justinian II, Emperor. Venerable Martha, mother of St. Simeon of the “Wondermount.”.


5th - Our venerable father, Athanasius, Hegumen-Abbot of Mount Athos, AD. 1805 – Venerable Lampadus, wonderworker of Irenepolis, and our venerable mother Martha, mother of the Holy Simeon of the “Wonderful Mountain.”


6th - Our venerable father, Sisoes the Great, Hermit and Anchorite in Egypt. He died about A.D. 429 after 62 years in the wilderness.


7th - Our venerable fathers, Thomas of Malea and Acasius who is mentioned in “The Ladder of Perfection.” - St. Cyriaca, Martyr, a wealthy Roman widow who sheltered persecuted Christians. Her charity cost her life. She was scourged to death as a Christian A.D. 249 under persecutor Decius, Emperor.

2024 EPARCHIAL APPEAL - Each registered family is asked to participate and help us reach our financial goal of $18,505.00 and also our goal of 100% participation. Currently, with 30 families, we have raised $13,150 or 72.85%. There are pledge forms at the back of the church. Thank you!         

       

PETER AND PAUL, PREEMINENT APOSTLES Divine Liturgy will be celebrated Friday, June 28 at 6:00pm and Saturday, June 29 at 8:00am.


PETER’S PENCE COLLECTION will be taken Saturday, June 29th and Sunday, June 30th. The Peter’s Pence Collection enables the Holy Father to respond with emergency financial assistance to requests to aid the neediest throughout the world; those who suffer as a result of war, oppression and natural disasters.


NOVENA TO OUR LADY OF MT. CARMEL - Mt. Carmel Devotions begin July 8th through July 16th with devotions, teachings and Liturgy daily. All weekday liturgies are at 6:00pm. Please come and pray with us!


VOLUNTEERS are needed for the Mt. Carmel celebration. Please see the sign-up sheet in the back of the church.

SIXTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST - Merciful Lord, you heal our weaknesses and forgive our sins. With one voice we implore you to grant your Church a rich harvest of vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, monastic, and religious life so that we may flourish as your Church, we pray you hear and have mercy.



EDUCATION


CATECHESIS FOR THE CATECHUMENATE is held every Sunday at 8:30am. Our catechumens will be prepared for baptism through this one-year program. Anyone who wants to learn more or refresh their Byzantine faith is welcome to attend. For the class, download the Ascension app on your phone or computer. See the flyers at the back of the church for more information on the resources you will need.


MYSTAGOGIA: CATECHESIS FOR THE ENLIGHTENED Adult education continues through continual faith formation each Sunday at 1:00pm. Join us for advanced studies in our spiritual life, Liturgy, theology, patristics and more. For the classes, you can purchase The Divine Liturgy: A Commentary in the Light of the Fathers from our bookstore.
